Mr Jaboor announced he was leaving Hobsons Bay on Friday after almost nine years at the council.
Mr Jaboor’s final day at Hobsons Bay will be Friday 26 October – the day before the council’s election weekend.
“I will leave Hobsons Bay with many fond memories, and immense personal and professional pride in the achievements of the council during my time here,” Mr Jaboor said.
“I am proud to leave behind a financially sustainable organisation, with little or no debt, that consistently delivers a robust capital works program year in, year out.”
Mr Jaboor thanked the team at Hobsons Bay but said he was looking forward to new challenges at Brimbank City Council which is being run by administrators.
“I welcome the opportunities that this position will present, including the rare chance to manage the transition back to elected councillors in 2015,” he said.
Hobsons Bay Mayor Tony Briffa said the council disappointed to be losing the services of Mr Jaboor.
During Mr Jaboor’s time at Hobsons Bay he has worked on projects including the Community Chef facility, the Bayfit aquatic and leisure centre, new libraries in Altona Meadows, Altona North and Williamstown and the Williamstown Football Ground redevelopment.
Cr Briffa said an acting CEO would soon be appointed and the recruitment of a new CEO would commence following council elections.
A Brimbank Council spokesperson said: “At this stage we are not in a position to comment on the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer for Brimbank City Council as this will be the subject of a Special Meeting of the Council on Tuesday 11 September 2012.”
