POLICE have impounded the car of a Sunshine man who was detected driving while disqualified in Laverton.
The 31-year-old male was driving a Holden sedan in Aviation Rd on 3 November when the Hobsons Bay Highway Patrol intercepted the vehicle.
Unit Commander Jason Van Doren said the male driver had “an extensive poor driving history for hoon related driving” in addition to being disqualified from driving “for a lengthy period”.
“The vehicle he was driving was unregistered and in extremely poor condition with steel cord being visible from the rear tyres, possibly indicating previous hoon activity,” Sgt Van Doren said.
“Police have impounded this male’s vehicle and he is eligible to have it returned on the 3 of December after paying impound costs of $703.”
“This will be in addition to any penalty he later receives after being summonsed to court.
“Of note is the fact that this male states that this is the fourth time he has been subject to the hoon impound process and police are glad to rid the roads of this type of driver once again.”
Anyone who witnesses bad driver behaviour can contact 000 or report past hoon activities to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
