TALENTED performers from across Melbourne’s west will move to the beat of their favourite festive songs at a charity event in Sunshine this week.

Westend Performing Arts in Braybrook has teamed up with children’s charity HeartKids Australia to host A Night of Carols this Saturday and help raise money for families of children with heart disease.

Budding artists will take to the stage and perform a number of Christmas carols while visitors enjoy the musical acts, amusement rides and food stalls available on the night.

Guests will also be treated to special performances by rising stars Fatai Veamatahau from The Voice and X-Factor’s Emmanuel Kelly.

Westend Performing Arts owner Anna Stokes hoped the special Christmas performance will help brighten up the lives of children living with heart disease.

“There are more kids who suffer from heart conditions in the community than any other childhood illness,” Ms Stokes said.

“People don’t’ realise a lot of kids have heart conditions because they look like any normal child.”

She said the charity night was a great way to bring the community together to help raise money for a worthy cause.

Ms Stokes said after just six weeks of rehearsals her students were gearing up to show off their latest moves and help spread the Christmas cheer.

“The kids are really excited about it. We’ve had our final concert for the year so this is something different for them and it involves more people,” Ms Stokes said.

“They’re really excited to perform with artists they see on TV.”

A Night of Carols will take place at Sunshine North Primary School on 15 December from 6pm.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years of age.
