THE Williamstown Festival is back this year, and while it will feature some old favourites it will also be revived with a few new features.
The festival’s music program will take an exciting new direction with ‘Music on the Menu’ being introduced.
‘Music on the Menu’ – a mini-music festival will take place on Nelson Place and aims to bring to the stage Hobsons Bay’s most talented musicians.
Williamstown band, Siblings is one of several bands who will be taking to the stage this April.
The five member band, Laura, Billy, Finny, James and Nick, are looking forward to showing Hobsons Bay what they’ve got.
Laura Lethlean, who plays keyboard and vocals, said she grew up attending the Williamstown Festival.
“Me and the bass player Billy both went to Williamstown High,” she said.
“I grew up in Willy and I’m really involved – this is a nice thing to do that hasn’t been done before … to allow local bands to put their hands up and be part of the festival.”
The Siblings, who play folky-rock melodies, said they’re excited to play to Billy and Laura’s home crowd.
“I think we’re very listenable and catchy – we’ve played lots of festivals and have been well received before.
“I’m quite proud to be showing them (Williamstown) our music.”
With the festival taking a break last year, this year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.
The Williamstown Festival will be held on 29 April.
The slogan is ‘3016 in 2012’, for more information call the festival office on 9397 1352 or email producer@williamstownfestival.com.au.
