BAYSIDE Secondary College has received a second funding boost in last week’s State Budget for the redevelopment of its Altona North campus.
The $5 million is on top of the $6.2 million it received last year for the first stage of the Altona Bayside Regeneration project.
Meanwhile, Bayside’s Paisley senior campus will have to wait for the next round of Government funding.
“Overall, we’ve been partially successful,” Mr Evans said.
“But the Paisley redevelopment remains on the waiting list.
“We’re set to be rebuilt but we didn’t get funded this year, which is a bit disappointing, but at least the Altona North campus will go ahead,” he said.
The junior campus will be purpose-built for students from Prep to Year 9, with new sporting and performing arts facilities, new technology buildings, a new admin block and a new library.
Sound environmental sustainability processes and landscaping processes will also be incorporated into the school’s design.
“So it will be unrecognisable when it’s finished and all the old grey buildings will be gone. It will be a very exciting thing for the area,” Mr Evans said.
