LONG-SERVING Brimbank City Council administrator Peter Lewinsky will step down to take up a new position at the end of the month.
Mr Lewinsky has been appointed as a monitor at Darebin City Council effective from 30 January, after Ombudsman George Brouwer last year investigated alleged conflicts of interest and misuse of entitlements within the north-eastern municipality.
Mr Lewinsky was originally appointed as Chairman of the Administrators in Brimbank during 2009, to fill in for elected councillors who were sacked after an Ombudsman’s investigation.
Chair of the Brimbank administrators, John Watson, said Mr Lewinsky would be “an ideal choice to work with Darebin City Council on a broad range of governance issues”.
A replacement for Mr Lewinsky has not yet been selected but is expected to be announced in the next few weeks.
