Centre upgrade

BRIMBANK Central Shopping Centre is set to undergo a $27 million redevelopment.
The centre has applied to Brimbank Council for a planning permit for building and works to upgrade the shopping centre on the corner of Neale and Station roads in Deer Park.
Centre Manager Russell Yelland said the Kmart store would close on Sunday 18 March in line with their lease expiry and that the centre was “exploring potential development options”.
Mr Yelland said options for the Kmart site included a new Coles store and fresh food precinct. But he was coy about what else was in store for the facelift and said more details would be released in the coming weeks.
Brimbank Central is the fourth shopping centre in the West to undergo a multi-million dollar redevelopment and expansion, following in the footsteps of Highpoint, Werribee Plaza and Watergardens.
Highpoint Shopping Centre began their $185 million expansion last year that will see the floor space increase from 125,397 to 155,318 square metres. Werribee Plaza is undergoing a $500 million expansion, while Watergardens Shopping Centre, which has undergone five facelifts since opening in 1997, will introduce a two-level 12,000 square metre Myer and new speciality retailers.
