Kings of rudeness in Brimbank

By XAVIER SMERDON AND ALESHA CAPONE

KINGS PARK and Albanvale are the rudest suburbs in Brimbank, according to an innovative map which can show how many times people swear on one of the world’s most popular internet sites, Twitter.
Intelligent mapping experts Esri Australia have used Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to show how many people are using languages other than English in tweets from different suburbs.
But the system also has the ability to show the number of tweets containing profanities in each and every suburb from November 2012 to March this year.
In the West, Tarneit in the Wyndham municipality easily topped the list with 490 rude tweets coming from the area in just four months.
Melton South was the second rudest suburb with 195 rude tweets, followed by Kings Park and Albanvale which notched up 178 rude tweets.
Sunshine North was the most polite suburb in the West, with only six tweets containing profanities registered.
Hillside was the second-most rude area in Brimbank with almost 155 profanity-filled tweets, with St Albans coming in third with more than 145 vulgar tweets.
Deer Park and Derrimut registered more than 105 rude tweets between them, followed by Taylors Lakes with more than 80 and Sunshine West with more than 50.
Caroline Springs and Burnside had just over 45 rude tweets, followed closely by Sunshine at just below the same number.
Sydenham, Keilor, Keilor Park, Keilor Downs, Keilor East and Delahey all registered about 25 rude tweets.
In contrast, Albion and Ardeer logged only nine rude tweets, Cairnlea 11 and Tullamarine 20.
