HILLSIDE resident Jodie Fraser is snapping up lasting memories through her camera lens.
The mother-of-two has an artistic talent for capturing moments in time and has loved working with photography and digital manipulation since she was young.
“I always had an interested and never had the opportunity to study it at school because you had to have your own camera, which I didn’t when I was younger,” Ms Fraser said.
While completing a course in Information Technology, Ms Fraser discovered a knack for creating and editing multimedia on the computer which prompted her to learn more about photo editing.
The creative mum moved from Cootamundra, a small town in NSW, to Melbourne with her family early last year after working as a photographer for a local dance school.
“When you have two teenage children in a small country town, there’s not a lot of options for them in the town,” Ms Fraser said.
“There are all sorts of hobbyists as well so there is a lot of competition in photography.”
After moving to Melbourne, Ms Fraser decided to enrol her children at a school in Caroline Springs and was inspired to start up her own business which she called ‘Caroline Springs Photography.’
Ms Fraser has taken thousands of photos for weddings, events and family portraits and said she has worked with many different models, including children and animals.
She said many people still love getting their photo taken and often rely on a professional to snap high-quality images.
“I think it is because they still want something that is good quality. They want someone who is going to sit down, take the time to make them look good and to bring out the best,” she said.
“Instagram is great and snapshots are fine but you still want something that’s artistic and that you can hang on the wall.”
