ALTONA Meadows teenager Harmony-Jane Debono is hitting all the right notes with her debut EP.

The 14-year-old singer and musician composed all the songs on her recently-released record ‘No Doubt’.

Her song ‘(Breaking in Two) Because of You’ has reached 10th on the Triple J Unearthed Pop charts.

Harmony-Jane has also been in the Werribee Concert Band, the Hobsons Bay City Band, St Albans Melita Band and Maltese United Brass Band.

She also plays the clarinet and is assistant conductor for the Maltese Own Philharmonic Band.

Harmony said she enjoyed performing and singing in addition to her orchestral duties.

“I love the adrenaline rush, the faces on people when they are entertained and having the opportunity to show others what I’ve been working on for days, months, years,” she said.

Musical talent runs in Harmony-Jane’s family – her father is vocalist and drummer in a band called Still Rockin’.

He also plays congas and sings for the group 2Rock, for which Harmony’s mother sings back-up.

“My parents say I was playing drums before I walked,” Harmony-Jane said.

She took up guitar at the age of three and started writing her own music in Grade 3.

With a name befitting her musical talents, Harmony-Jane said the moniker often drew attention.

“Well, the first person to ever comment about it was Jamie Redfern when I performed in one of the talent quests,” she said.

“Since then, everyone has been commenting including my music teachers.”

Harmony-Jane, who is presently in Year 10 at Westbourne Grammar School, said she hoped to become a professional in the music industry or a music teacher after graduating.
