The Deer Park concreter believes he has the goods to take out the title.
“Tradies stay lean and mean. We go hard to earn a good quid, enjoy our toys and don’t mind bragging about how well we are doing,” the father-of-two joked.
The fit 42-year-old said when his fiancé entered him into the competition, which scours the nation to unearth the most popular tradesman; he was surprised but pretty excited at the same time.
“I’m not one to prance around, but I was pretty excited when I found out – and a little scared,” Squeo said.
“But I’m pretty confident. I had a look at last year’s winner and think I can top that.”
The hard-working family man runs his own business and has been a concreter for the past 25 years.
“It means my fitness levels are high. I work all day and go to the gym every night.”
And he has to keep it up because competition is rife on the worksite.
“There’s lots of competition between concreters and chippies. They are on top of the ladder with the nail guns, while we are working hard on the ground flexing our guns.”
But he said nothing is better than spending time with his two boys at the beach enjoying the surf.
“It’s all about the children, seeing the smile on their face is what makes me happy.”
Alas single ladies across Brimbank shouldn’t get their hopes up because Squeo is well and truly off the market.
“You should say I’m getting married in January,” he added.
