Recycle those suckers

THE Good Guys at Taylors Lakes are calling on customers to think about what happens to the old when they are buying new appliances, by providing a vacuum cleaner recycling initiative for the local community.
Each year in Australia millions of electrical appliances, including an estimated 1.2 million vacuum cleaners, make their way to landfill.
According to Planet Ark these staggering figures are caused by customers simply not knowing what to do with old appliances when the time comes to replace them.
“It is important that manufacturers are proactive in putting in place environmental programs that support their products at end of life and address growing waste issues. Whilst not law it should be seen as an opportunity to meet growing consumer demands for green products,” Planet Ark campaign manager Brad Gray said.
The eco-trade campaign gives local residents the opportunity to trade-in, rather than trash their old vacuum cleaner, so it can be responsibly recycled.
Vacuum cleaners can be dropped off at The Good Guys store during March, and in return for the machine will receive a discount off a new Dyson vacuum cleaner.
