WILLIAMSTOWN RSL will be among the 65 sub-branches around Victoria inviting the public to be VIP guests on Saturday 26 March.
For the second year running, the RSL will open its doors to showcase their facilities, services, and people to the local community and at the same time, give the locals a chance to soak in the vast history the sub-branch has to offer.
There will be decades of history and memorabilia to view and veteran story-telling throughout the day.
There will also be an opportunity to learn more about the rewarding RSL Volunteer program. From selling Anzac badges for the upcoming Anzac Appeal, home and hospital visits, to driving and transport, a volunteer plays a pivotal role and is the lifeblood of the organisation.
According to State President Major General David McLachlan AO, the RSL sub-branch Open Days are a perfect occasion to showcase the facilities, services and the abundance of history on offer.
“For many, the local RSL sub-branch may be seen as just the local watering hole or social space purely for veterans of war,” he said.
“What people may not realise is that your local RSL is a mecca in history, modern facilities and a place for people to visit and enjoy.
“You never know, by stepping into the sub-branch, you may be enticed to become part of that unique family and become a member or a volunteer.
The Open Day will be held on Saturday 26 March at 128 Ferguson St, Williamstown. For information call Ernie Pool 9397 7642 or visit www.rslvic.com.au.
