Airport evacuated after gas leak

MORE than 100 passengers had to be evacuated from the Tullamarine Airport after a gas leak began last Thursday.
Metropolitan Fire Brigade crews were called to assist the airport’s own Fire Service just after 11am on 3 October.
An excavator working at the airport damaged a gas supply pipe line, causing the evacuation of two terminals.
The MFB and airport firefighters brought the leak under control within 70 minutes.
Afterwards, MFB firefighters continued to monitor the air to ensure it safe for the passengers who were evacuated.
Around 130 people were evacuated from the Tiger air terminal.
