Murder charges in Friday shooting

POLICE have charged a man with murder in relation to the alleged shooting of a woman in Sunshine North last Friday.
Officers were called to the Meadowbank Drive home about 9am and the woman’s body was found in a back bedroom.
Police have charged a 34-year-old Sunshine North man in relation to the death.
The male faced an out-of-sessions hearing on Friday evening and was charged with one count of murder.
He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday as Star went to press.
At the time, the identity of the murdered woman was yet to be disclosed to the media.
On Friday morning, police allegedly received an emergency call from the Meadowbank Drive home, saying a woman had been shot to the upper body.
Channel Nine footage showed a man covered in blood being led from the house by police.
Police said they were yet to establish how many times a firearm had been fired at the crime scene.
Shortly after police attended the murder scene, the bodies of another two females were found in a house located metres from where the shooting took place.
One of the deceased women was aged in her forties and the other in her eighties.
Police said their deaths were unrelated to the shooting and were not being treated as suspicious.
