POLICE are investigating a violent home invasion in St Albans which left a man and a woman with head injuries last Monday.
At 6.30am on Monday 8 October, the two victims were in their residential home on Furlong Rd, St Albans when they heard a noise which sounded like a window being smashed.
The male resident went to investigate the noise and observed a male offender carrying a firearm in the hallway of the house.
The female joined the male in the hallway where the offender made demands for money.
A physical confrontation occurred between the offender and two victims and the female victim was struck to the head with the firearm, resulting in an injury to her right eye and cheek.
The male victim was also struck to the head during the attack, resulting in lacerations to his head and bruising to his upper body.
It is believed the firearm was discharged some time during the attack and the offender ran from the premises.
Police conducted a search of the area but were unable to find the offender.
The female victim was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with head injuries and the male victim was taken to Sunshine Hospital.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity on Furlong Rd in St Albans at 6.30am last Monday to contact Detective Senior Constable Alannah Stanley on 9313 3444.
