LUCY Gale is using her voice to tackle homelessness and help street kids living in the West.
The singer-songwriter will perform her new song ‘Tears of a Child’ at the annual 20th Man Fund Gala in Melbourne this week.
Co-written by long-time Friend Bettina Spivakovsky, the song calls attention to the struggle of street kids and homeless people who are constantly ignored by the community.
“We are all born innocent and life deals some of us harsh times but with the economy going the way it is there is a widening gap between the people that live in comfort and those who have so little,” Lucy said.
The talented performer began her musical career at the tender age of 10 and has performed in front of audiences at the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Concert Hall, Australian Open and AFL Grand Final.
“Singing is my language. It’s my whole life,” Lucy said.
“Singing and performing is when I feel complete. I need to express myself in song and the artists that I have covered and the original music that I write gives me energy and life.”
She will take to the stage at the 20th Man Fund Gala this Friday to raise money for young people struggling with homelessness, bullying, and low self-esteem in Melbourne’s West.
“Hopefully this song will touch every person on the planet, because nobody should be homeless in the 21st century. Everybody has a right to live properly. This is what I believe in my heart,” Lucy said.
“If Tears of a Child can help change the life of people, raise money, grow awareness and move people to take action, then we have done our job.”
The 20th Man Fund Gala will take place in the Peninsula Room in Docklands on Friday 19 October.
