SUNSHINE Railway Station could be transformed into a shopping and residential hub if the Victorian Greens win the seat of Footscray at the State Election.
Greens candidate Janet Rice launched her vision for the Sunshine train station last week.
Ms Rice, who is contesting the seat held by Labor MP Marsha Thomson, said she would advocate for the rail centre to be made into a retail and residential development, if she was elected.
She also said the Hampshire Rd flyover and the pedestrian underpass would be removed as part of the plan, and the rail lines could even be relocated underground.
“The Hampshire Rd flyover and the pedestrian underpass are not just ugly, but they are a barrier to people moving from one part of Sunshine to the other,” Ms Rice said.
