Two fights in two days

POLICE were called to a Sydenham block of flats twice in two days last week, after two fights broke out in 48 hours.
Police arrested 14 men over an alleged street brawl following a road-rage incident on 7 November.
Detectives from Keilor Downs arrested the group of men after an alleged fight between two groups outside the Sydenham Rd property.
Police said some of the males involved armed themselves with weapons and assaulted two residents from the Sydenham block of units.
Two men, aged 18 and 53, were treated in hospital for serious injuries after the attack.
A 28-year-old man from St Albans was also hospitalised for bruising and minor lacerations.
Eleven men arrested over the affray were from Sydenham, two from St Albans and one from Craigieburn.
All 14 men arrested were released pending summons.
However, officers were called to the Sydenham flats again on the Monday night following the first brawl.
Police said just after 10pm, “parties believed to have been involved in an affray on Sunday afternoon at flats in Sydenham Rd were again engulfed in a heated exchange.”
The latest incident allegedly involved assault and property damage and a 22-year-old Sydenham man received a minor head injury during the confrontation.
“It is believed a number of men may have damaged up to five vehicles in what may be retaliation for Sunday’s assault,” the Victoria Police statement said.
“Police do not believe this is a racially motivated incident as they are aware of ongoing issues between the parties.”
