WHILE western suburbs songwriters Lydia Gardner and Darren Pace have appeared to be leading relatively normal lives for the last few years, the duo have secretly been perfecting the recipe for what they describe as the “most intoxicating and addictive songs on the market”.
The Point Cook pair are the face of the dynamic pop/rock band WakingUgly, which also includes Brimbank residents Andrew “Jan” Laszcz and Tanya Mamo and Hobsons Bay resident Andrew Portelli.
The group will launch their debut EP ‘Say Something Sweet’, this Thursday, 18 November.
Gardner, the lead vocalist, described the EP as a “sampler of five of their yummiest tracks” and said the group was inspired by current artists like Pink and Kelly Clarkson.
And fans have already had a taste of the group’s debut single ‘You know You Wanna”, which is available on iTunes and other online music retailers.
Gardner said the reaction had been positive and the group were fired up to finally perform live.
Airwaves producer Michael Zammit said the group had a bright future.
“I think they have a pretty big future in the industry. They definitely have their own style. I see them being around for a long time.”
The Say Something Sweet release party will be held at the iconic Eurotrash Bar, 18 Corrs Lane, Melbourne, on Thursday 18 November from 9pm. Doors open 8pm.
