THE MAN accused of murdering a Deer Park shopkeeper has pleaded not guilty to his charges.
Riad Barbour appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last Friday via video link from Barwon Prison, where he is being held for the murder of 48-year-old Dzung Nguyen.
Mr Nguyen’s body was discovered at the Deer Park Post Office on Ballarat Rd in December last year.
Mr Nguyen had been stabbed multiple times in an attack police described as “horrific”.
Police charged Mr Barbour with murder and armed robbery.
It’s alleged the 32-year-old from Bacchus Marsh took more than $12,000 after stabbing Mr Nguyen with a knife and a wooden table leg.
Mr Barbour was remanded in custody to appear at the Supreme Court on Friday 27 April.
