IT seems Adora Arch is following in her sister’s ultra-quick footsteps.
The Brimbank Little Athletics runner recently broke the Australian record in the Under 9 girls 100m event at the State Track and Field Championships last month, shaving 0.03 seconds off the old mark to clock a time of 14.62 seconds.
She also won the 70m and 200m events.
Her older sister Billie, who also represents Werribee-based club Western Athletics, is normally the one astounding people with her pace, but Adora is emerging as an equally talented runner. With a set of twins running around in the Under 7 category, we could see almost as many Arches as podiums in the future.
Billie has also recently lit up the track, winning the Under 14 girls 400m event by a whopping 2.43 seconds at the Australian Junior Championships last month, as well as winning the long jump and coming second in the 200m.
“She’s running the 400 in around 58 seconds, that’s just ridiculous really for a girl her age,” Brimbank Little Athletics president Dennis Thornton said.
“Billie’s as humble ad you can get for what she’s achieved.”
Billie will represent Victoria at the National Little Athletics Championships in Hobart this weekend.
She is the only Brimbank Little Athletics member to represent Victoria, but other athletes from western clubs are: Kara Olsen (Keilor), Jade Sandkuhl (Keilor), Shannon Bain (Keilor), Celeste Mucci (Williamstown) and Ben Tipper (Altona).
