MELTON Police were disappointed with the results of a booze bus operation conducted on Ferris Road, Melton early this month.
Six drivers were detected with either alcohol or drugs in their system during the operation on 5 April.
Police said two drivers, a 34-year-old male from Taylors Lakes and a 38-year-old male from Kurunjang, were detected by the bus with alcohol levels in excess of the prescribed concentration and were issued infringement notices. A further two drivers, a 47-year-old male from Brunswick and a 33-year-old male from Melton South, returned preliminary oral fluids samples testing positive for illicit drugs.
A 37-year-old male from Kurunjang and a 24-year-old male from Delahey were intercepted on the Western Freeway after they attempted to avoid the booze bus by driving around traffic cones blocking the freeway entrance.
The 37-year-old male had a reading of .068, and will be charged with driving while suspended. The probationary driver from Delahey returned a reading of .101 and was issued an infringement notice cancelling his licence immediately for 10 months.
