MELTON Council’s new CEO has ordered an immediate reshuffle of the organisation after taking the helm last week.
Former general manager of corporate services Kelvin Tori was given the top job during a special council meeting last Tuesday.
Mr Tori emerged as the preferred candidate after serving as acting CEO for the past seven months.
Mr Tori told Star his first priority would be to review the council’s internal structure to ensure every department is working together to achieve its strategic objectives.
“The first thing I’m tackling is having a fairly serious review of the way the organisation is structured and how it’s dealing with our council objectives,” Mr Tori said.
“I think we need to make some changes, but it’s not about making redundancies, or downsizing. In fact, we will be creating some new positions.”
But he declined to go into further detail about the reshuffle.
Rather than being daunted, Mr Tori said he was excited about the challenge of running one of the fastest growing municipalities in the state.
“My particular focus will initially be on delivering consistently high customer service, engaging with the community and ensuring council is effective in advocating to State and Federal Governments for support in addressing the many challenges that growth presents.
“I am excited by the challenges and enthused by the opportunities that characterise Melton,” he said.
Melton mayor Justin Mammarella said Mr Tori would face circumstances significantly more challenging than previous CEOs.
“We have absolute confidence in the decision that we have made to appoint acting CEO Kelvin Tori as the organisation’s new CEO.”
Mr Tori said he anticipated the reshuffle would be completed within the next four months.
