DJs take their best shot

BEST mates Josh Murphy and Dylan Fairbairn have teamed up with hopes of becoming Australia’s next top DJs.
The pair entered the ‘Your Shot’ DJ competition hoping to swap their bedroom for a festival main stage and are one step closer to achieving their dream.
With more than 4500 DJs entering the competition, the Altona mates made Melbourne’s top 72 and are undergoing six weeks of DJ training.
Josh said he was stoked to be taking part in the training.
“I’ve been a bedroom DJ for about a year,” he said.
The 19-year-old said he wanted to enter the competition but didn’t want to do it alone and though Dylan hadn’t really done much DJing he was keen to learn.
“We’ve been mates since we were 14 and met lifesaving in Altona,” Josh said.
The pair hopes to take out the competition with the state winners given the opportunity to play at Australia’s biggest music festival, Stereosonic as well as one lucky winner being sent to play at Europe’s iconic Paradise Club in Mykonos.
Josh said it would be a dream to become an international DJ.
“I love that you’re in control of the music,” he said.
Josh and Dylan are currently in their fourth week of DJ training and once the course is complete, hope to compete in state event finals to be held at the Royal Melbourne Hotel next month.
