THE Williamstown Festival Board has a new man in charge, voting in their new president Geoff Vine.
Mr Vine, who has been involved with the festival for more than three years, joined the board 18 months ago despite not living in the Hobsons Bay area.
Mr Vine said working in the area inspired him to get involved in the community event.
“I guess working in the area, I have an affinity for community projects,” he said.
“I’ve been involved in a lot of organisations.”
Despite not having a date set for next year’s Williamstown Festival, the new president has high hopes for the event.
“The festival changed (this year) and it will continue to evolve with the times,” Mr Vine said.
Last year the Williamstown festival took a break but came back in full force this year with an entirely new structure.
“We went for more of an arts feel.”
“It was very well received.
“People want different things and things need to change with the times.”
Mr Vine is calling for volunteers to join the committee for the 2013 Williamstown Festival.
“I’m looking for community minded people interested in volunteering to be on the committee or lend a hand at the festival.”
Mr Vine believes festivals still play an important role and hopes to involve as many citizens as possible to keep the festival community minded.
“Williamtown is a fairly tight-knit community.”
