AUTHORITIES are investigating two separate fires in Brimbank, including one blaze which caused up to $400,000 damage at a medical centre.
The Kealba Medical Centre Kealba was “extensively damaged” by fire on 7 September, according to a Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) statement.
The MFB received several calls about the blaze on Valewood Rd at about 1.30am on the Saturday.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters discovered the double-storey building was “totally involved by fire”.
“Both the building and contents have been extensively damaged by fire with a part of the second floor in danger of collapse,” the MFB statement said.
Seven appliances and 18 firefighters attended the Kealba blaze.
Crews took 20 minutes to bring the fire under control and used breathing apparatus during the operation.
The fire has been deemed suspicious and police are investigating its cause.
In a separate incident on 9 September, MFB crews took 10 minutes to bring a single-storey house fire in Sunshine under control.

The blaze reportedly started in a corner of the front lounge room. A portion of the lounge room and a section of the roof were severely damaged in the fire.
