THE Keilor 150 Race Challenge is set to provide a fun and fascinating insight into the area’s history.
Throughout this year Brimbank City Council, businesses and community groups have been celebrating Keilor’s 150 years of local government.
As part of the program, the Keilor 1st District Scouts are presenting the Race Challenge on Sunday 6 October.
Open to all residents and visitors, participants will follow clues and walk to important locations in the Keilor Village while competing in outdoor challenges, like knot tying and quizzes about Keilor’s heritage.
The Scouts – plus Cubs, Joeys, Venturers and Rovers – will assist people during the event, hold a sausage sizzle and hand out prizes.
The Keilor 1st District Scouts group leader, Andy Allen, said participants would be able to complete the challenge in around 70 minutes if they walked fast, or up to 90 minutes at a slower pace.
“It’s an opportunity for people who live in and around the area to explore the village and see the sense of community we enjoy here,” Mr Allen said.
“I think it’s just a matter of people coming along to have a bit of fun on the day.”
Registrations for the challenge are now open.
Participants will depart between 10am and midday from the Cliff Harvey Lagoon Reserve, Old Calder Highway, Keilor.
