A YOUNG retail manager from a Keilor Downs pharmacy will represent Victoria at a national contest next month.
Point Cook resident Kylie Gauci has been picked from 20 state finalists to attend The Pharmacy Guild of Australia GlaxoSmithKline National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year competition on the Gold Coast in October.
More than 400 nominations were received from across the country for the prestigious award.
Ms Gauci started working at the Quality Pharmacy Keilor Downs four years ago after leaving school.
She has already twice been awarded the Quality Pharmacy Retail Manager of the Year and was a finalist for the National Retail Association’s Young Retailer of the Year Award in 2011.
Ms Gauci said she was passionate about community health and was delighted to be selected as the state finalist in the Pharmacy Guild of Australia awards.
“I was extremely excited and honoured to be announced as the 2013 Victorian finalist,” she said.
Ms Gauci said she enjoyed customer interaction and the chance to make a positive impact on people’s lives, as part of her job.
“We work with our customers to help them manage chronic diseases and implement preventative measures as well as promoting general health and wellbeing,” she said.
“We have a really good customer base and we get to know people by their names.”
