MARIBYRNONG Park Football Club is looking to turn back the clock in season 2012 after the re-appointment of Brodie Holland as senior coach.
Holland replaces Craig Clinnick who has stepped aside from the role because of growing work and family commitments. He will remain at the Lions as the senior assistant next year.
However, this will not be the first time Holland has been the top lion is the pack after coaching Maribyrnong to back-to-back premierships in seasons 2009 and 2010.
He remained at the club this year in a playing capacity and was a part of a Maribyrnong outfit decimated by injuries to key position players including Luke Livingstone and Kade Carey, who could not get a regular place in the team. Even the club’s celebrity recruit couldn’t escape the injury curse with Wayne Carey’s debut in the Lions jumper cut short after just 15 minutes.
Despite the injury problems Maribyrnong still managed to fight its way into the finals series only to be comprehensively beaten by Greenvale.
In a statement on the club’s website, president Luke Di Pietro said: “The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Brodie Holland as senior coach for 2012”.
“Brodie has expressed a fierce desire to coach again and we are pleased that Brodie’s association with the football club will continue in 2012.”
“Brodie brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm with him both as a coach and player.”
In the next few weeks the club will announce the coaching panel they hope will have them back on top of the Essendon District Football League ladder next season. “We would like to thank and congratulate both Craig and Brodie on the positive impact they have both had on our football club and we wish them the best of luck moving forward,” Di Pietro said.
