A 49-YEAR-OLD Newport woman led police on a bizarre chase through Geelong last Friday.
At 11.15pm the woman was stopped at a breath testing site in Keera St, Geelong. After failing three times to supply a breath test, the woman drove off.
Police pursued the woman, who continually failed to stop, before stop sticks were deployed on the Maltby Bypass. The Commodore wagon hit the stop sticks at speed, bursting several tyres bringing the pursuit to an end. The woman was arrested and her car was impounded. According to police, tests later revealed she was not under the influence – she just didn’t want to stop. The woman faces numerous charges including refusing a preliminary breath test, speeding and reckless conduct endangering life.
