DANIELA Roman knows how to bring her best to the big stage. The speedster blitzed the 100m hurdles to claim a gold medal at the Victorian Open Championship.
The event was held last weekend at Albert Park with Roman’s gold medal making her the only Williamstown athlete to claim a podium finish.
The next best result was Mitchell Fontaine who came fourth in the men’s long jump, with a best leap of 7.07m.
In other results for Williamstown, Carl Van Der Speck produced consistent times through the 100m rounds and finished seventh in the final.
Khan Marr was injured in the 100m after leading the field at the 40m mark. Brad Ticehurst stepped up from the under-18s to contest the open competition. Ticehurst just missed qualifying for the semi finals in the 100m.
He later went on to qualify for the semi-final of the 200m with a time of 22.84sec.
