BRAZEN knife-wielding thieves attempted to rob a woman, who was walking with her 66-year-old mother, along a Sunshine North street on Monday 11 July.
The 47-year-old female was strolling along Northumberland Rd with her mother when a vehicle, with two males inside, pulled up next to them.
Police said a passenger got out of the car, brandishing what was described as a “large kitchen knife”, and attempted to grab the younger woman’s handbag.
Police said as the woman ran away, she dropped her handbag, which the men picked up and drove away with.
The offenders’ vehicle was described as an older-model gold-coloured station wagon with no number plates.
Later on the same Monday, the owner of a St Albans Indian grocery store was attacked when six offenders robbed his business.
Police said the Main Rd West shop was robbed when the group of men, wearing scarves and hooded tops, entered at around 9.35pm.
They approached the counter and demanded money, then pushed the store’s owner to the ground and kicked him.
The robbers took a bag containing cash and also took money out of a register till, before fleeing.
Police said the store owner, aged in his 40s, was not badly injured after the attack.
They have appealed for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Caroline Springs Police Station on 9361 4700, and ask to speak to the Embona Armed Robbery Taskforce.
