Time is right for youth jobs

IF YOU are a young person looking for an exciting job, the WPC Group can help.
The employment company, which places skilled apprentices and trainees with businesses, has almost 120 vacancies available for teenagers and young adults looking for a chance to begin their careers.
The WPC’s CEO Nick Wyman said the not-for-profit organisation, founded in Melbourne’s West, specialised in flexible employment, recruitment and training.
“We have almost 30 training places going in business and approaching that number in hospitality,” he said.
“And on top of that, there are apprenticeships going in Automotive Trades.
“The economy is going well, with job vacancies up according to the ABS.”
However, Mr Wyman said youth unemployment remained high although workplaces were keen to hire young people.
“We are seeing this reflected on the ground, in renewed employer demand for young people to train in trades and other skilled areas particularly as we head toward the end of the year,” he said.
“This is great news for Australia’s kids entering the job market.
“Australia’s stronger economy is creating new opportunities for young people hoping to take up an apprenticeship or traineeship.”
Mr Wyman said young people wanting to find work or new employment opportunities needed to act now because in about two months, thousands of new school-leavers would be looking for work and training.
“Now is the time for those already in the job market – hopeful chefs, hotel managers, mechanics and auto electricians – to get serious about their career plans,” he said.
“Kids looking to careers in office administration also need to know that they are keenly sought after.”
