FOOTSCRAY Edgewater appears on the way to another Premier Cricket victory after a dominant first day’s play against Frankston Peninsula.
The Bulldogs are in the box seat after winning the toss and sending Frankston in to bat.
Jake Haberfield was again too tough to handle for the batting side with a haul of three wickets.
He was well supported by Michael Kelly and Sunam Gautam who both snared two victims.
Together the trio helped dismiss Frankston for 166 in the 69th over.
Matthew Gapes was the only batsman to look comfortable at the crease on his way to the innings top score of 53. In reply, Footscray is 2/56.
The Bulldogs recovered from a horror start to the chase with Anthony Barton and Travis Dean both dismissed without scoring.
However, captain Dean Russ helped steady the ship and finished the day on 47 not out.
When play resumes this week he will be joined at the crease by Dylan Kight.
The Bulldogs require another 111 runs for victory.
