BRIMBANK police arrested a man who stands accused of stealing a cash register from a St Albans service station on Sunday 10 November.
The robbery took place on the corner of Station Rd and Main Rd West at 5am.
Police said an armed man allegedly threatened a staff member before running from the fuel store with a cash register.
A short time later, officers from Keilor Downs police station saw a man fitting the offender’s description running along Gladstone St with another person.
After a short struggle and the deployment of capsicum spray the pair were arrested in the front garden of a private home.
Police also located clothing, cash and a knife allegedly used in the robbery.
A 30-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, both from St Albans, have been charged with armed robbery and associated offences.
Police have also praised the actions of the employees at two St Albans convenience stores, after a man tried to rob them in the early hours of Friday 1 November.
Brimbank Police Inspector Chris Gilbert said staff from the stores locked the doors after they allegedly saw the man, who was armed with a knife.
The man approached a Gillepsie Rd shop but wasn’t able to enter due to the secured doors.
Detectives believe the same man, dressed in a grey jacket, black balaclava and track pants, attempted to enter a second store in Kings Rd just 15 minutes later.
