WITH energy bills skyrocketing, Brimbank residents are being encouraged to use their electricity wisely.
The ever-increasing cost of utility bills will be a hot topic at a workshop being presented by the council at Sunshine Library next week.
Hosted by self-proclaimed climate change warrior John Knox, the workshop will offer residents a chance to learn about the importance of correctly reading an energy bill, cheap and easy options on how to save energy at home, solar power and power-saving appliances.
And Knox is just the person to speak on the topic, having spent six months riding across Australia to get the message through to the rest of the country.
The former electronics design draftsman and web shop manager travelled 8500 kilometres speaking to audiences about energy efficiency and after 22 weeks of cycling solo, said he returned with an even stronger passion for this hot topic.
Participants at the workshop will be offered energy-saving kits to borrow from the library in order to perform their own home energy audit and learn practical ways to reduce their bill. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, 28 March from 5.45pm to 7.45pm.
