A CAROLINE Springs student is building a name for himself in the engineering industry thanks to the hard yards he put in during his VCE.
Sasha Domitrovic recently commenced a four-year apprenticeship in mechanical engineering after completing his studies at Mowbray College last year.
The 18-year-old will have one of his finest pieces of work on show at this year’s Top Arts exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Top Arts showcases the finest work from VCE students across the state with a diversity of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, multimedia and installation.
The exhibition showcases the ideas and attitudes of young people and after a rigorous selection process and short listing procedure almost 60 students are represented in the exhibition.
Mr Domitrovic, who created a CNC milling machine last year, said he was honoured to find out his construction was chosen among 3000 pieces of art work to be on display and all the hard work was definitely worth it.
“I was really honoured and proud when I found out,” he said.
“I couldn’t believe it. My teacher was really proud and I can’t wait to see it on display.”
Mr Domitrovic, who is also studying two days a week at RMIT, said the machine took six months to create and is one of his greatest achievements.
