CITY of Melton residents can speak one-on-one with the mayor and ward councillors in an informal setting as part of a community outreach.
In a first for the municipality the mayor, Kathy Majdlik, will visit four suburbs across the municipality to listen to residents’concerns.
Cr Majdlik, who already made a visit to Eynesbury and Melton earlier this month, said she hoped the meetings would provide residents with an opportunity to reconnect with the council.
She said, unlike the intimidating backdrop of the council chambers, these meetings offered an informal setting to meet members of local government.
“As a mayor, I’m always thinking is there a section of the community I haven’t touched,” Cr Majdlik said.
“It’s a more engaging approach.”
She said the recent meeting in Eynesbury raised a number of significant issues including the urgent need for a primary school in the area and the lack of infrastructure within the small community.
Upcoming meetings will be held in Caroline Springs on Sunday 24 March and Taylors Hill on Sunday 7 April.
