Kosky’s on the move

ALTONA MP Lynne Kosky expected another term as Victoria’s longest serving Education Minister but was last week handed the reins of the new public transport portfolio.
“I’ve enjoyed my time in education immensely but now it’s time for new challenges and delivering on Labor’s plan to invest in our public transport system,” Ms Kosky said.
Premier Steve Bracks announced his new cabinet on Wednesday last week.
After Ms Kosky was sworn into Parliament on Friday morning, she spent the afternoon with staff moving into their new office.
She was later briefed on the gamut of public transport issues that lay ahead of her four-year-term.
Those around Ms Kosky deflected media reports that the new position was a demotion.
“It’s not a demotion,” said media adviser Tim Mitchell.
“She is the longest serving Education Minister in Victoria’s history, she’s been there for five years.”
