Three netted in Cannabis heist

MELTON police have arrested three men in relation to a massive cannabis crop discovered in Caroline Springs on 12 August.
Police seized 205 kilograms of cannabis and elaborate hydroponic equipment at the home, and have charged a 21-year-old man and 24-year-old man, both from Caroline Springs, and a 41-year-old man from Hillside with cultivating a drug of dependence.
All three have been remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, police also arrested a 31-year-old Melton man and a 19-year-old Melton woman in relation to a spate of hot water service thefts in Melton and Bacchus Marsh on 14 August.
In a separate incident, two Hillside residents have been charged with committing burglaries, possessing items believed to have been stolen and possessing ammunition and illegal fireworks.
A 25-year-old male was remanded in custody and the 23-year-old female bailed to appear in court at a later date.
Police are also asking the public for assistance in relation to a firearm incident in Hillside on Saturday 10 August around 4.45am.
Police believe an altercation between one man and a group of other men broke out at 1 John Paul Drive and shots were discharged. A 31-year-old man from Hillside was interviewed, with the investigation ongoing.

Detective Senior Sergeant Barry Jenks has told Star there have been at least 15 burglaries or thefts on residential properties, businesses and schools so far this month.
Thieves stole water meters from both Springside College and Hillside Primary School.
