Local charities in trash plea

A BUILDUP of trash around charity clothing bins has sparked pleas for Hobsons Bay residents to “think before they drop”.
The National Association of Recycling Organisations, which includes charities such as Red Cross and St Vincent de Paul, has asked people to consider whether their goods are reusable before leaving them near the bins.
The calls are an attempt to stop increasing amounts of hard waste and unusable furniture being placed near the bins.
“The local community always donates generously at this time of year, for which we are very grateful,” a NACRO spokesman said.
“But we ask people to think carefully about the quality of their donations – will they be of use to someone in need?”
