HOBSONS Bay City Council may soon instigate an anti-bullying public awareness campaign.
At the last council meeting, councillors moved to prepare a report on the council running a public awareness campaign on bullying and cyber bullying.
Councillor Peter Hemphill, who brought the motion to council, noted that Brody’s law recently came into play.
Cr Hemphill said he feels for the couple that lost their daughter and Altona Meadows’ Halkic family who also lost their son to bullying.
“I think that the more that we can do to promote a positive and response to countering bullying the better,” he said.
Cr Hemphill suggested that the campaign could include guest speakers and involved the schools.
Cr Luba Grigorovitch said she thought the motion was an important one.
“Anything that could be done – I know that the Halkic family has come out with a template around cyber bullying and trying to implement it into the schools,” she said.
