INTERCOURSE and erotic massages will be offered at an adult sex education centre proposed for Brooklyn.
Last month Star revealed Hobsons Bay City Council has received a planning permit application to use land at Unit 6 in 46-50 Buchanan Rd for ‘sexual health and education services’.
The council’s director of planning and environment, Peter Gaschk, said the applicant “did not apply for a brothel but for sexual health and education services”.
“Due to the nature of the business, it is defined as a sexual service under the Sex Work Act and as a brothel under the Prostitution Control Act,” he said.
However, recently-lodged planning documents reveal the proposal has requested a “two room brothel permit for the property”.
“We will be educating clients on sexual methods, techniques and therapy,” the planning application said.
“One practitioner will provide erotic massages to assist those with impotence and premature ejaculation.
“Direct stimulation and masturbation will occur. The same practitioner will be offering sex for clients who wish to learn more about sacred sexuality and techniques.
“The other practitioner will be offering sexual education classes and therapy for couples.
“The same practitioner will be offering erotic massages of sex.”
The proposal said their outdoor signage would read “ISHIMPO”, standing for “Institute of Sexual Health, Integration, Medicine, Psychology and Orientation”.
If the council allows ISHIMPO to set up, it will become the second sex business in Buchanan Rd – an existing licensed brothel operates a few blocks away.
There is also another licensed brothel in Brooklyn, not far from Buchanan Rd.
Star contacted business owners at 46-50 Buchanan Rd to ask what they thought of the ISHIMPO proposal.
One business operator said he did not want another sex service located in the suburb.
“This area has always been a prime location to operate a small/medium size business and after many years it is starting to get a bit of a lift in appearance,” he said.
“I just feel that certain types of business do nothing to help the appeal of the area.
“Obviously, as well as normal, well-behaved people their client base includes undesirables who frequent at all hours of the night and day.”
