Healthy kidney call

ELDERY Brimbank residents are urged to take advantage of free kidney health checks and diabetes risk assessments in Delahey next month.

The health checks are highly recommended to people with diabetes, who have a high blood pressure, who smoke or who have a family history of kidney disease.

Appointments with ‘Let’s Talk Life’ health professionals will be available early February at the Delahey Community Centre for kidney and diabetes consultations.

Chair of Administrators John Watson said the service will improve the ongoing health of Brimbank residents.

“These services are provided to give the community an opportunity to achieve a possible early indication of health problems and a check on lifestyle factors that may put people in a high-risk category,” he said.

“One free 15 minute appointment might just change a life by picking up early indications of kidney disease or type 2 diabetes.”
