Police say two men drove into the Caltex service station on the corner of Kings and Taylors Rds just after 11.30pm on Saturday 12 February.
While the driver was refuelling, the passenger held up the store, threatening the attendant with a large machete.
He fled with an undisclosed sum of money and returned to the car, which was last seen travelling north along Kings Rd.
Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to over the incident.
Embona Taskforce officers are also investigating another armed robbery committed at a 7-11 in Kings Park on the same night.
At this stage, police do not believe the incidents are linked.
