GLEN Orden’s football and cricket clubs are set to benefit from planned upgrades to Heathdale Reserve.
Wyndham City has allocated $200,000 for “concept and detailed design of pavilion facilities” at the ground.
The council is reviewing an audit of the ground’s condition before determining exactly what upgrades will be made.
Glen Orden Football Club is also planning to install a new electronic scoreboard, with funding support from the Heathdale Neighbourhood Renewal Project.
Football club spokesman David Cassano said the club was looking to get four changerooms (for players and umpires) refurbished throughout the season, and hoped to re-size the neighbouring primary school oval so it can be used as a second senior oval.
Wyndham City will also replace Heathdale Reserve’s two cricket nets with a five-wicket facility. The nets will feature four enclosed wickets and one community cricket net.
Council staff are evaluating tenders for the $163,000 project, which includes a $60,000 grant from Sports and Recreation Victoria.
“The scoreboard will hopefully be up by the start of the season,” Cassano said.
“The ground’s in the best condition it’s ever been in.”
