LOVERS of classical and traditional Serbian music will be treated to a myriad of trained composers this weekend at the Serbian Finest festival in St Albans.
The concert will feature the works of famous Serbian composer and musicologist Stevan Stojanovic Mokranjac, who many consider to be the founder of the nation’s classical and choral music.
The festival will highlight other romantic composers along with traditional folk music and dance.
Event organiser Dijana Soldo said the day would provide an enriching experience for the audience who may not be familiar with the sights and sounds of Serbia’s classic music.
The Altona Meadows resident said the day would also feature popular and long-standing folk dance group Morava, first established 42 years ago at St George Church in St Albans.
Ms Soldo said it was important every culture preserved their traditions, while also offering audiences across Australia something different.
“The concert will be good for everyone. People from different cultural backgrounds and those familiar with the Serbian music,” she said.
The group hopes to attract more than 200 people to attend the event which will take place this Sunday from 7pm at St George Church, St Albans.
