A MAN exposed himself to a young girl outside the Caroline Springs Library on Tuesday 3 September.
The Footscray Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) have appealed for public assistance to help identify the male.
Investigators have been told the nine-year-old girl was walking from a skate park towards the library on Caroline Springs Blvd when a man sitting on a large boulder shouted at her around 4.30pm.
As the girl approached the front doors of the library she stopped to look at the man who was performing a lewd act.
The girl immediately walked back to her mother and the man fled the scene.
The offender was perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged about 30 to 40 years old, unshaven with short brown hair.
He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket and a black T-shirt with an American flag motif on the front.
Police have released an image of a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.
