THE Hobsons Bay City Council formally adopted its budget for 2006/2007 at an ordinary meeting on 27 June.
Large expenditure on capital projects formed a key part of the budget, with the BayFit Leisure Centre and the Laverton Community Children’s Centre included.
Councillor Bill Baarini described it as “one of the best budgets ever developed for the people of Hobsons Bay”, adding that the 4.9 per cent rate increase “doesn’t hit hip pockets any more than it should”.
